EAST AFRICAN GUIDES AND PORTERS ASSOCIATION

This is a Union of Guides and Mountain porters in East African countries. (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania). It is purely formed and owned by the workers.
East African Guides and Porters Association also offer guided trips to all East African National Parks, Mount Kilimanjaro, Kenya, Ruwenzori, Usambara, Siemen, Oldoinyo Lengai, walking and cultural tailor – made adventures.
Our clients enjoy various accommodations; budget, semi luxury, luxury camping and get contract rates in hotels which is cheaper than paying in rack rates.
GOAL OF THE UNION

- To unify Guides and porters in East Africa where by they will have a common say and become one-decision –making tool.
- To make sure that Guides and porters are not exploited by the minority businessmen in Tourism Industry.
- Train the members and community around us how to implement and monitor development projects for human development in the region.
- To train Guides and porters in various tourism and cultural topics to enable them work better and understand their goals and importance of them in the community.
- To make sure that we have a well-trained and disciplined team of Guides and porters in East Africa.
- To become advisory and informative tool between tourism food chain and the surrounding communities.
- To make sure that Guides and porters are insured against any risk at work and pensions after retiring from their work.
- To assist our members to generate funds through their work, donations and various projects, and became a saving and borrowing tool to the members.
- To become accelerating tool in promoting environmental and Health awareness.
- To have a continuous Guides and porters exchanging scheme to enable them learn from each other hence improving their living standards.
- To cooperate with stakeholders in tourism industry and related international organizations to retain Tourism and cultural values.
- To make sure that the guide and porters in East are equally paid, equally treated, well equipped while on duty, and there are paid in time.
